Abstract: Gestational gygontomastia is an exaggerated and pathological breast enlargement occurring during pregnancy in a patient with previously normal breasts. It is a rare disease, the etiology remains unknown, and causes a problem in the management of pregnancy. The treatment is surgical based on bilateral mastectomy then a breast reconstruction because of frequent recurrences after breast reduction.
We report the case of a patient who presented with bilateral gigantomastia of pregnancy, who was received at the mother-child radiology department at CHU HASSAN II in Fez, for radiological assessement in order to plan treatment. This article discusses the physiopathological mechanisms, the etiopathogenic aspects, the radiological results of the various examinations and the therapeutic strategy.
